(a chapter from the section, Foundations, of my book, Heaven on Earth)
Where Noah’s Ark is a place of refuge, a place of protection, and a place of rest for the weary, the Land of Plenty is a land flowing with milk and honey, and heavy laden with fruit. In a Land of Plenty, there are usually plentiful choices that can be chosen in freedom. To establish ourselves in the Land of Plenty, we journey through challenges and obstacles. We travel through unmapped territories and uncharted waters. We conquer giants along our paths. All along the way, we follow the leadership of the Lord Jesus Christ because he is in the driver’s seat. We allow the Lord to lead us through the unknown. (Matthew 16:24 MSG)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Stick with our strengths and what we like to do. Find the open door for us that suits us the best. Be persistent and determined. We might need to set a plan in motion for our future. It might be a job we are looking for. It might be some further studies that will set us up for the next thing we want to do. We might be looking to start a business. We might want to do the work of the LORD in full time ministry.
I have been through a journey with the Lord when the Lord has spoken to me through The Maxwell Leadership Bible NKJV. These are what He has highlighted in my journey thus far before I stumbled upon an open door that the Lord had opened for me recently.
- Decide what is the main thing I must do, and then do only that.
- Forget the money and follow my passion. So what would I choose to do and keep doing even if I got paid nothing. Find my bliss.
- In using a hunting metaphor, John Maxwell explained that if I chase two rabbits, both will escape. It is a question of focus.
Remember that the LORD GOD is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our Provider. He will provide everything that we need for the journey up ahead. If we would make the kingdom of God our primary concern, He will take care of everything that we need out of His glory and His riches. (Philippians 4:19 NIV)
