In thinking about sustainable futures, I played around with the idea of being able to create self-healing communities.
Self-healing communities are communities with the capacity and resources to:
- Take down all the high places.
- Honor God above every other concern.
- Welcome foreign newcomers and make them feel at home.
- Heal the hurting and the needy.
- Breed trust.
- Cultivate principled lifestyles.
- Be forgiving.
- Value each and every person equally.
- Give a hand up to someone who has fallen.
I thought of a possible application for a self-healing community in the sustainable workplace and the sustainable community.
Further, I thought of how as the citizens of planet earth, we are made up of communities and nations. If each community was a self-healing community, and each nation was a self-healing nation, then we will be a happier, safer and more comfortable planet, no matter how over-crowded we became. We would be co-operating and collaborating in principled ways, instead of competing with each other.
